Sonia Medina

Urban manager specialized in sustainable mobility and gender. I am passionate about promoting sustainable mobility and advocating for just transport systems. My goal is to work towards making cities more sustainable, equitable, healthier, and safer places to live. To this end, I have been working in sustainable urban mobility since 2015, focusing on active mobility and gender. I have focused my professional career in advocating for safer and more inclusive transport systems. Formerly I worked at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) México office as the Active Mobility and the Cycling Cities Strategy Coordinator managing some projects related to cycling, pedestrian mobility, and urban design considering the gender perspective. In 2018 I was able to take the Planning the Cycling City Summer School at the University of Amsterdam and in 2020 I was part of the Urban Leaders of Women in Motion taking the course Mobility and Gender in Latin America. I managed the project E-MOVILIZA focused on the transition toward low-carbon electric mobility in Ecuador.
