About me
Mustafa Sherif is an urban planner and placemaker from Iraq, based in Stockholm, dedicated to creating cities for people, especially children. As Studio Manager at AFRY’s Urban Planning & Design studio, he leads projects focused on human-centered urbanism and applies the Swedish Child Impact Analysis model to ensure urban environments support children’s needs.
He specializes in public participation, community engagement, and placemaking. Mustafa is the founder and host of the Urbanistica Podcast, with over 550 episodes and listeners in more than 150 countries, featuring global leaders in urban development.
He frequently lectures at universities and professional events, advocating for inclusive cities. Mustafa is Director of Placemaking Sweden and founder of the Nordic Placemaking Network. He has received several recognitions, including awards from the Swedish Architects’ Association and the Jane Jacobs Lecture.
