Shruti Venkatnarayan

Shruti Venkatnarayan is an urban planner in the final semester of a Master of City Planning at UC Berkeley. She holds an undergraduate degree in architecture and practised as an architect in India for two years, contributing to several large-scale masterplanning and design projects: a streetscape transformation focused on alleviating traffic, improving pedestrian safety and walkability; a net-zero-energy campus for a solar research institute, involving extensive passive-cooling and heat-simulation work; and a K-12 school designed around multiple stakeholders, site constraints and sustainable design. During her graduate studies she has developed practical skills in research, interviewing, GIS mapping and data analysis, exploring transportation, housing, climate resilience and infrastructure planning across both Global North and South contexts. She spent the summer of 2025 interning with New York City's housing and economic development office, working on affordable housing projects from site surveying and feasibility through to construction. Her interests span strategic planning, climate resilience, urban governance, public space design and international consulting, with a focus on holistic, community-centred planning and policy.
