Michael English is a municipal planner in rural North Carolina with a background in public-private partnerships, economic development, and university-anchored real estate strategy. He holds an MBA and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to graduate school, Michael worked in economic development supporting high-growth technology startups in securing the financial and talent resources needed to scale. His work centers on leveraging anchor institutions and innovative financing structures to drive inclusive, place-based growth. With experience contributing to domestic and international development initiatives—including innovation district strategies—he is particularly interested in operating at the intersection of higher education, real estate, and economic development across the U.S., Asia, and Africa.
