About
Participatory urban planning initiatives and citizen-led innovation projects, focused both on co-creating solutions with communities and on scaling climate-adaptive approaches in urban contexts. Working at the intersection of open urbanism, citizen participation and community-driven urban transformation.
Through his work at Laboratorio de Innovación Ciudadana Oaxaca, Marcos promotes collaborative approaches to urban challenges, connecting design, governance, learning networks and social innovation to foster more inclusive and resilient cities.
His approach seeks to ensure that urban planning is not limited to technical expertise alone, but actively involves communities to co-create solutions to their own collective living challenges, through human-centered and systems-thinking frameworks.
He brings growing expertise in:
Citizen participation and collaborative urban processes
Urban regeneration and public space activation
Facilitation of interdisciplinary and intersectoral networks
Social innovation and community engagement
SDGs implementation and spatial equity approaches
Marcos aims to launch collaborative platforms that connect universities, communities, institutions and international actors through open exchange and collective problem-solving.
