About

Kriti Rajkarnikar is an urban planner based in Kathmandu with extensive experience in disaster-resilient planning, governance and policy. After completing her Master's in 2016 and transitioning from architecture, she contributed to Nepal's post-earthquake reconstruction through Build Change in the aftermath of the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, working in a range of capacities between 2016 and 2019. She subsequently worked on land pooling and physical development plans before moving into governance and policy framework projects at her current organisation. There she has gained significant experience developing a Local Disaster Resilient Framework for twelve local governments, amending and reviewing building and retrofitting by-laws, and contributing to risk-sensitive land use plan preparation and training. Having focused on disaster-oriented planning consistently since 2016, she has built a clearly defined specialism. Her areas of expertise include strategic urban planning, climate resilience, risk and disaster management, urban governance and international consulting, all directed toward building safer, more resilient communities.
