About

George Hibbard is a strategic urban planner with experience across private consultancy and state and local government in Australia. After beginning his career as a consultant, where he explored different fields of planning and found strategic planning the most compelling, he relocated to a regional city to gain hands-on strategic planning experience — a formative period in his development. He returned to Melbourne to work on major projects for the Victorian State Government before moving to the City of Melbourne, where he led a community infrastructure needs assessment and contributed to both the transport planning and affordable housing teams. He currently leads major land-use and strategic planning projects at the City of Stonnington, developing and managing projects to completion with the support of consultants and junior staff, and advising councillors and management on planning matters and decision-making. His areas of focus include sustainable urbanism, strategic planning, sustainable mobility, affordable housing and urban governance, underpinned by a strong commitment to planning that delivers genuine social and environmental benefit and improves people's lives.
